I’m not an engineer, so creating my DVD, “Depression What You Must Know,” and my Podcast, “Psychiatric Secrets Revealed with Dr. Mike” involved a lot a research and learning.  The information listed below is a compilation of that work.  I hope you find it helpful.  Mike Kuna
2. You need a very neutral mic that is capable of recording all types of voices well from bassy to squeaky.
3. Your particular voice is exceptional (in a good or bad way) and only a certain microphone does it justice.
4. You want the clearest/most natural sound without the hassle of post-production tweaking.
5. You just want the best.
6. Someone else is paying for it.
7. You have cash to burn.
8. You have special needs.  A microphone that can be handled a lot and stay quiet, a microphone that is immune to a ton of electronic noise (hash), etc.

Reasons to buy an inexpensive microphone include:

1. To save a ton of cash.
2. The environment that the microphone is being used could be toxic to it (stolen or easily damaged).
3. You need to allocate limited resources towards several different pieces of equipment or software.
4. You can’t see spending money just for the heck of it.
