I originally did these audio clips for my own amusement.  When listening to them please remember:

 

1. These audio clips were not done in a pristine audio lab.

2. Try listening to them with headphones to truly appreciate the differences between  the microphones.

3. Remember that your listeners won’t be doing an A/B microphone comparison.  Therefore, most of these microphones will sound great to your listeners.

Super Cheap Chinese Dynamic Microphones

At incredibly low prices, these microphones sound awfully good. The last mic listed is a cheap Shure that I bought at Fry’s Electronics.  Personally, I think that the cheap Shure doesn’t compare to these other microphones.

Chinese Studio-Type Condenser Microphones

Here are a couple mics, including a Podcaster favorite, the MXL 990.  This microphone sounds good and its cheap.  However, for a little more I think you can get even better sound.
